Queens Park Rangers are trying to sign the Celtic striker Gary Hooper in a £6m deal, but this seems unlikely because the Championship club face competition from Premier League side Norwich City.
Hooper revealed his ambition to play for England one before Euro 2012 and feels the best way to get this is by playing in a more prestigious league.
When talking to Sky Sports News, Redknapp revealed his interest in the player.
He said: "He's a player we like but it's whether they want to sell him and whether we have the money to pay for him."
The 25-year-old striker scored 82 goals in 138 games for the Scottish champions and that is the reason why he's been linked with so many English clubs.
So, with the Hooper bid unlikely to succeed, Redknapp has identified Burnley striker Charlie Austin to fire them straight back to the Premier League.
Austin's move to Hull fell through when he failed a medical with a knee problem, which may not be the risk QPR want to take. The 24-year-old was prolific for Burnley last season, scoring 28 goals in 40 games for the Championship side.
I personally think the best signing out of the two for QPR and which would help them bounce straight back in to the Premier League is Hooper.
Although Austin has proved himself to be one of the better players in the Championship, I don't think he would perform in the Premier League. But Hooper is a natural goalscorer; his finishing, awareness, he knows where to place himself in the box for those easy goals.
Hooper would also be less of a risk if he was to pass his medical, as clubs already know about Austin's knee problem.
