Mysterious Brazilian star Jessica Andrade can’t wait for her UFC debut match against Liz Carmouche this Saturday.
The South American revealed that she won’t be an easy customer in an interview with www.ufc.com, and that she will be giving everything to ensure that the “Girlrilla” is in for a challenge.
“I will not give up easily, I’m Brazilian, and I will not give Liz time to breathe in the cage. I will leave my heart inside the Octagon,” said Andrade, through the use of her translator and manager, Tiago Okamura.
At just 21, the youngster still has a lot to learn in the sport. However, she already boasts an impressive 9-2 record in MMA.
Five of those wins have come through submission, whilst the other four were victories by knockout, and Jessica is making her first appearance in UFC at a prosperous time for the women’s bantamweight division.
And Andrade is well aware of its growing reputation: “All the fights have been pretty good. The UFC clearly handpicked each of the girls, and each fight that passes, the fans gain more respect for the division and the division gains more attention.”
Carmouche made her UFC debut back in February, in what was the brand’s first ever female fight. The newcomer has her strategy in mind already though, and will be looking to use her lack of mainstream exposure to her advantage.
“I don’t think two fights are exactly the same so I’m pretty sure I will have to react to what she brings in on the spot. But I’m really focused on surprising her and the audience as well,” Andrade promised.
