Biglia signs for Lazio

Liverpool and Arsenal have both missed out on Argentine midfield target Lucas Biglia.

The 27-year-old has penned a five-year deal with Lazio, moving to Serie ‘A’ from Anderlecht after seven-years in Belgium.

His new club confirmed the deal with an official statement on their website, as the former Argentinos Juniors and Independiente player gets the big move he’s craved.

"SS Lazio announce that player Lucas Biglia signed with the club on a five-year deal," read the statement.

TalkSPORT claims the Premier League duo were among the interested parties to have now missed out on the player, and both the Reds and Gunners could have used the 10-cap international to their advantage.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has struggled to fill the defensive midfield position since Patrick Vieira retired, and Biglia would have been an ideal addition at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation under manager Brendan Rodgers, and Biglia could have filled one of the all-important defensive spots to allow Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho the chance to create in-front.

Neither side will be able to reap the rewards of Biglia's services in the Premier League.
