Colombian president tries to steal Copa Libertadores medal

Colombian FA president Luis Bedoya so very nearly got his hands on a precious memento from the final of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night, but saw his dastardly attempt to pocket a medal thwarted at the last second.

Bedoya was a member of the presentation party assembled on stage to award runners-up medals to the dejected Olimpia players, and clearly identified this as a chance to acquire himself a souvenir.

Having already offered his commiserations and handed out medals to a number of players, Bedoya spotted his opportunity to perform a disappearing act with one of the trinkets.

Bedoya was caught on camera wrapping up a medal in his hand before sliding it towards his jacket pocket, only for the high-profile Colombian figure to have his plan scotched by a presentation official.

Olimpia lost the encounter to Atletico Mineiro on penalties.
