Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse will remain at the club next season after finally agreeing to wear their new strip for the upcoming season, despite it being sponsored by money-lending company Wonga.
There was a fear within the Newcastle camp that their star striker would refuse to wear the training gear and the match-day strip because of his religious beliefs, but it now appears that the Senegal international is ready to put the beliefs to one side and put on the shirt.
Muslims do not believe in benefitting from lending or receiving money, so Cisse was fully against wearing something that advertised a money-lending website. But after talks with the club and the PFA, he finally seems ready to put the case to bed.
His stance against the club's sponsorship has seen him miss the pre-season tour of Portugal and also sparked rumours about his future, but he is now ready to join up with his team-mates and prepare for the new campaign.
Cisse was recently photographed in a casino, which further damaged his reputation within the Newcastle hierarchy, but after the club held talks with Cisse and his officials, they finally agreed on the striker wearing the kit for next season.
Newcastle are scheduled to play Blackpool on Sunday after returning from Portugal and it is likely that Cisse will feature for the club in their new kit.
Manager Alan Pardew is still on the look-out for a new striker to become Cisse's new partner upfront, and his main attentions are on Aston Villa's Darren Bent and also Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis.
