Pre-season friendlies may be played at an intensity below the usual standards of Europe's top divisions, but there is certainly no lack of quality if the events of past week are anything to go by.

There have been wonderful goals aplenty scored in recent days, with Cristiano Ronaldo proving a summer of relaxation has not resulted in him losing his deadly accuracy when presented with a set-piece.

The Real Madrid superstar crashed in a fine free-kick during his return to England, with Los Blancos crushing Bournemouth 6-0 at the home of the Championship outfit.

It did, however, take a while for Ronaldo's radar to be fine tuned, having broken the wrist of a young spectator with his first errant shot of the afternoon.

Ronaldo's goal against Bournemouth may have since been bettered in Real Madrid's next outing, although this time it was a superb strike against the Spanish giants that left spectators purring.

Clement Grenier of Lyon was the player to execute it; converting with a breathtaking volley while looking in the opposite direction.

Raul Meireles, formerly of Chelsea and now of Fenerbahce, also hammered home a net nugget of his own this week as he slammed in a rocket against Hazar Lankaran.
