Liverpool keeping tabs on Luis Suarez replacement

Liverpool are already preparing for life without Luis Suarez as they line up a move for Udinese star Luis Muriel, reports the Daily Star.

Suarez’s future is up in the air at Anfield after the Uruguayan told the club he wanted to leave to play Champions League football.

Arsenal have been in hot pursuit of Suarez with their latest bid of £40,000,001 being rejected by Liverpool. However, Liverpool have allowed him the opportunity to speak to the Gunners with a view to a fee being agreed.

Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a world-class forward to finally replace Robin van Persie after he departed for Manchester United last summer. After missing out on Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, it seems nothing will stop the Frenchman in his pursuit of Suarez.

With the departure of their star man seemingly imminent, Brendan Rodgers is thought to be drawing up a shortlist of replacements. Atop that list is the Serie A starlet Muriel.

The 22-year-old has been impressive for Udinese after returning from two seasons on loan at Granado and Lecce respectively. Muriel scored 11 goals in 22 appearances, doing enough to catch Liverpool’s attention.

Udinese have become renowned for their ability to spot young talent, especially from South America.

Their extensive scouting network has unearthed superstars such as Alexis Sanchez, Gokhan Inler and Cristian Zapata before being sold on for considerable profit.
