Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon

There really was no other contender for this position, such is the magnitude of the impact which Gianluigi Buffon has had upon Italian football. Six times he has been selected as Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year over the last decade, while he was also voted as the World's best stopper on four separate occasions. In 2001 he made his move to Juventus for a world record fee of £32.6m, which has yet to be broken. This grants some indication of what a phenomenal individual Buffon is. Over the last ten years he has won five Serie A titles, two Italian Super Cups with Juventus and, in addition,  a World Cup with Italy.

Honourable mention: Samir Handanovic
