Edin Dzeko screamer lights up Asia Trophy final

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko gave manager Manuel Pellegrini something to think about ahead of the new Premier League season after firing in an unstoppable half-volley against Sunderland in the Barclays Asia Trophy final.

The Bosnia & Herzegovina international stuck less than 10 minutes into Saturday's showpiece friendly in Hong Kong, slamming a left-footed strike in off the post past Sunderland's summer signing Vito Mannone.

Given the adverse weather conditions and the amount of water on the pitch – ground staff worked tirelessly before kick off to make sure the game could be played – Dzeko's stunner must surely be a contender for the best goal of pre-season.

The goal will further convince Pellegrini that he already has four top class strikers at the Etihad Stadium.

The Chilean recently stated that he believes City have the best strike-force in the Premier League, after Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo joined Sergio Aguero and Dzeko in the City ranks.
