Adnan Januzaj was a relatively unknown to European football fans, at least until he was chosen to feature in all of United's 2013 pre-season games in Asia and Australia.
Bearing the no. 44 on his back, Januzaj set out determined to impress the new manager in charge David Moyes.
In the first match of pre-season, and the first defeat as it turned out, Januzaj shined after being given a chance to prove himself.
Januzaj was the brightest man on the pitch for Manchester United during a gloomy looking match against the Singha All-Stars.
Impressed by his skills, Moyes once again gave Januzaj some pre-season game time when the Red Devils went to Australia to play the A-League All-Stars.
With United cruising, Januzaj was introduced into the fray with 20 minutes left on the clock.
Once again, the young Belgian impressed, showing off his skills on the balls and giving every United fan another reason to love the teenage sensation.
Having won the Manchester United Reserves' Player of the Year award before coming to the pre-season tour, Januzaj already had lots of pressure to perform and lots of expectations to fulfil.
All of that at the age of 18. You don't see people expecting an 18-year-old breaking into United's first team everyday, do you?
After also featuring and impressing in the Japanese tour games against Yokohoma F. Marinos (Lost 3-2) and Cerezo Osaka (Drew 2-2), Januzaj's moment of pleasure finally came, as the 18-year-old Belgian scored from an Alexander Buttner cross to net his first goal for the senior United side.
Januzaj is a very creative midfielder, and at the age of 18, he might just go on to become exactly what United have been missing in midfield.
Playing alongside the likes of Michael Carrick will help increase the evergrowing confidence in the boy and hopefully that will bring out the best from him.
Bayern and Barcelona better keep their hands off of him, because he will go on to become one of the best midfielders of his time.
