Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hailed the club’s rising stars after an impressive pre-season victory against Kitchee FC.
Danny Welbeck, Chris Smalling, Fabio and Adnan Januzaj put the Red Devils in cruise control at the Hong Kong stadium, before goals from Lam and Alex pulled Alex Gomez’s side back into the match.
Jesse Lingard put a gloss on the scoreline for the Premier League champions’ however, and Ferdinand – who wasn’t involved in the match – paid tribute to the future Old Trafford stars.
Ferdinand wrote on his official Facebook page: “The youngsters bagged a few nice goals today! Jessie, fabio, Adnan, Smalling & Welbz all notching! Bye Hong Kong, it was cool being here!”
United fly back to Manchester following the conclusion of their Asian tour, but will be jetting off to Sweden next Monday for a friendly against AIK Fotboll.
After that clash on Tuesday, the team will fly back for Ferdinand’s testimonial match against Sevilla on Friday 9th, before the Community Shield against Wigan two days later. The Premier League season begins six days later with a trip to Swansea.
