Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring Sami Khedira to Stamford Bridge, reports the Daily Mirror.

The defensive midfielder is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid after the La Liga giants spent big this summer - and Mourinho wants to be reunited with the German international.

The pair remain on good terms following the Special One's stint at the Bernabeu, and with Chelsea desperate to strengthen their midfield, a move for Khedira is seemingly on the cards.

Despite falling out with a number of Madrid's key players towards the end of his tenure, Mourinho's relationship with Khedira remains firmly in tact, and the 26-year-old former Stuttgart star is reportedly keen on linking up with Mourinho once more.

Chelsea have turned their attentions towards Real Madrid's £20 million man, though they are also keeping tabs on Roma's Daniele de Rossi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for consecutive transfer windows.
