Tottenham star Gareth Bale has told Andre Villas-Boas that he wants to leave White Hart Lane for Real Madrid, according to talkSPORT.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are desperate to sign the 24-year-old, who reported for training with Spurs on Wednesday morning, and bid £85m for his services earlier this week.
Tottenham, however, have refused to accept the bid that would officially make Bale the most expensive footballer of all time.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy regards the Wales international as vital to the club's ambitions of securing a top-four finish this season - and knows that, even with £85m in the bank, it will be difficult to replace the man who netted 26 goals in all competitions for the north London outfit last term.
Bale's superlative performances - particularly in the second half of the campaign - led to him winning the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards, and alerted the attention of arguably the world's biggest club.
With Bale informing Tottenham of his desire to leave the club, Real Madrid will now expect to sign the Premier League star within the next few weeks.
