Sending your keeper up for a corner in the dying seconds is the ultimate desperation play - a last throw of the dice.

Like when NHL teams pull their goaltender, teams hope to score a last-minute goal to snatch a result - what they don't count on is the other team's goalkeeper scoring instead.

Because that's what happened in Austria last weekend. Berndorf had fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2, and sent their stopper up for a corner in the last few seconds of the match.

But a poor delivery saw USK Piesendorf keeper Hannes Leo claim the ball, before hitting a laser-like drop kick fully 100 yards into the opposition's goal.
