Fiorentina reject AC Milan bid for Tottenham midfielder target

Fiorentina have rejected an offer from AC Milan for Adem Ljajic, giving Tottenham Hotspur renewed hope of signing the midfielder, reports talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the past few months, with suggestions that he could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

Manchester United actually agreed a deal to sign Ljajic from Partizan Belgrade in 2009, but the transfer fell through over reservations about the Serbia international's ability to obtain a work permit.

Ljajic eventually moved to Italy where he has gone on to establish himself as one of the brightest young prospects in all of Serie 'A'.

And, with just 12 months remaining on his contract, Fiorentina now face the difficult decision of whether or not to cash-in on the player before the close of the transfer window, or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has shown an interest in bringing Ljajic to White Hart Lane, and might look to add the attacking midfielder to his ranks should the north London club sell Gareth Bale.

Fiorentina are eager not to sell Ljajic to a domestic rival - hence why they've have knocked back AC Milan's £8million bid - but might consider a similar offer from Tottenham should it be forthcoming.
