Luis Suarez has pulled out of Liverpool's pre-season friendly against Valerenga with the club citing a foot injury as the reason for his absence, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Uruguayan striker has been attempting to agitate a transfer away from the Anfield club, revealing he wanted to play Champions League football.

Arsenal are the only club to show concrete interest in the player so far this summer and he is reported to be keen to seal a move to north London.

Arsene Wenger is determined to land the star striker before the close of the transfer window but has yet to improve on his £40m plus £1 bid.

It is though Wenger is waiting for Suarez to make the next move by demanding a transfer to the Emirates stadium.

Although Liverpool are reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, speculation has been intensified after the club revealed that he will not take part in the pre-season friendly in Oslo tomorrow night.

The game against Valerenga will be Liverpool's second-to-last friendly before the start of the season. Their last will be against Celtic in Glasgow on Saturday.

Suarez left their training centre today to have a scan to see how bad the injury is.

He will stay in England to undergo further scans on his foot but it is not yet known how serious the damage is.

Napoli target Martin Skrtel will also not making the trip to the Norwegian capital along with Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson.
