Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen to capitalise on the uncertainty in the Real Madrid midfield and land former charge Sami Khedira.

According to Marca, Mourinho has sent out some feelers to the Germany international over his feelings about joining the Stamford Bridge club.

The report claims the pair had a good relationship when the Portuguese was in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu and there is willingness for reunion at Chelsea.

Carlo Ancelotti, another former Blues boss, replaced Mourinho as manager of Real Madrid this summer and the report claims Khedira is worried about his future under the Italian.

Next season is a crucial one for the former Stuttgart midfielder, as he will want to be playing regularly ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

There is significant congestion in los Blancos midfield since they purchased Asier Illarramendi and Isco this summer and the report claims Khedira could be open to a move away if Ancelotti doesn’t give him some assurances.

Chelsea are reportedly on the lookout for a central midfielder after sending Oriol Romeu on loan to Valencia and John Obi Mikel reportedly heading for a summer exit.
