Manchester United have submitted a transfer bid for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, indicating the end of their pursuit for Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas.
According to the Daily Mirror, David Moyes launched a bid for Fellaini last night.
Fellaini reportedly has a £23.5million buy-out clause in his contract with Everton.
Moyes admitted earlier this summer that his top priority is to sign a midfielder for his new club before the transfer window shuts.
However, the Scot has failed to sign his top midfield targets Thiago Alcantara and Fabregas.
Barcelona have rejected two bids from Manchester United of £25million and the latest bid of £30million.
The Premier League champions were believed to be preparing a third bid for the Spaniard, but have now turned their attention to Belgian star Fellaini.
When asked about signing, Moyes said yesterday: "If you are asking me if anything is close, I can’t give you an answer on that.
"I do think we will be bringing players in before the window shuts."
Fellaini, 25, looks to be the first marquee signing for Moyes at Manchester United, as they begin their title defence season in less than two weeks.
