Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes an £85 million price tag for Gareth Bale is too much.

The Tottenham star, who reportedly wants a move to the Spanish outfit, has been tracked by Madrid all summer, but now Perez has questioned the fee that the north London side are asking for.

The Real president has stated that the club remain in contact with Spurs for the Welshman, who won the PFA Premier League Player of the Year award last season.

Speaking to ESPN, Perez said: "We are talking with a lot of people and we will see what comes of our negotiations, I am talking about that player (Bale) and others.

"I do not want to talk about players out of respect to the player himself (Bale), the club and the chairman (Daniel Levy) who is a friend of mine and with whom I struck up a good friendship last summer because of the transfer of Luka Modric.

"If we're not talking about names, we're not talking about money either, but 100 million (euros) seems a lot to me.

"But I am not talking seriously because there is no need and, as I said, out of respect for the club."

The future of one of Real's own stars Cristiano Ronaldo has also been uncertain of late, however Perez is certain the superstar will remain at the Bernabeu for the rest of his career.

He continued by saying: "No. We are all convinced he will finish his sporting career at Real Madrid.

"I think by the end of summer we will try to resolve this matter."

With Ronaldo set to stay in Spain and Gareth Bale potentially linking up with the Portuguese star, Madrid will be hoping to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona in the 2013/14 season.
