David Luiz is expected to hold talks with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho over his future as Barcelona prepare a final bid.

According to the Mirror, the Brazil international wants assurances from his boss at Stamford Bridge about his role this coming season, after the Camp Nou club had a bid turned down last week.

Chelsea reportedly knocked back a £35million offer for Luiz early last week, with it being suggested Mourinho is unwilling to see the 26-year-old leave.

However, some reports claimed the Blues would be prepared to let Luiz leave if a bid in the region of £50million were to come in for him from Barcelona.

Luiz has become a crucial part of the Chelsea team over the past two seasons, improving greatly at centre-back and also turning out in defensive midfield at times.

This latest report from the Mirror suggests Barcelona believe the former Benfica star wants to make a switch to La Liga and are hoping he will try to force through the move.

Mourinho is unlikely to be keen to see one of his prized assets leave so close to the start of the new season and the report claims the Portuguese is determined to hang on to him.
