Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich passed up the opportunity to sign £50million Radamel Falcao after advice from a special iPad scouting app created at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mail, the Stamford Bridge billionaire has become addicted to the specially adapted tablet that rates players around world football using info from a database added to by Chelsea scouts.

The report claims Blues manager Jose Mourinho believes it is the most advanced scouting system in the world and that results on the app are why Chelsea passed up the opportunity to sign Falcao this summer.

Abramovich is one of very few people with access to monitor the updates by scouts that score players in numerous different areas.

It also claims that Chelsea will only consider players that score 90 per cent or over in the various categories and that Falcao fell below that mark with his ‘movement outside the box’.

Some people may point towards 28 goals in 38 La Liga games last season as an ample fall back if his movement outside the area was not the best.

Nonetheless, AS Monaco eventually won the race to sign the former Atletico Madrid star in a £50million deal.
