Stiliyan Petrov is set to make a comeback to the football field for the first time since being diagnosed with leukaemia in March 2012.
The former Aston Villa and Celtic midfielder is scheduled to appear in a charity match on September 8, lining up for his own 'Stiliyan XI' against a Celtic legends team at Celtic Park.
The match has been labeled '#19 Legends' and will raise money that will go to Petrov's foundation and Celtic charity.
Henrik Larsson, Paul Lambert, Chris Sutton and current manager Neil Lennon are all set to turn out for the Celtic side.
Former manager Kenny Dalglish, Roy Keane and Lubo Moravcik have also been given the honour of playing.
It will be the first time the 34-year-old has pulled on a playing shirt since his unfortunate diagnosis and Petrov, who has been in remission after chemotherapy, admitted his battle has been worse than hell.
"I don't know what hell is like, but this has to be worse, I can tell you that. It has been very tough but we never give up as a family," the ex-Bulgaria international told the Daily Mirror.
The Villa supporters continued to show support for their former skipper by applauding in the 19th minute at every home game last season.
Petrov has now called for a stop to the applause but thanked all the fans for their support.
"The fans have shown me so much love, support and respect and I will hold this forever in my heart," he said.
"But we all have to move on. I know they will always be beside me, they're with me and I'm in their thoughts. That's a precious and very humbling thing."
Petrov made 219 appearances for the Villains after a £6.5million switch from Celtic in 2006.
