The 2013-14 Premier League kicks off today and almost everybody related to the game including the most decorated player in English football history, Ryan Giggs has predicted it to be the toughest title race. Six teams have a realistic chance of winning the title in this campaign. So how should the 'Big Six' line up in their opening games.
Liverpool
Liverpool are up against Stoke City in the curtain raiser. They have had a promising pre-season and their new signings can help fire them back into the Premier League's top four. For their opening game, i think this should be their starting 11: Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Aspas, Coutinho, Sturridge.
Arsenal
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa. It has been a frustrating transfer window for the Arsenal fans so far and they would hope that Arsene Wenger signs some quality players before the transfer window closes. Their starting 11 should be: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud.
Manchester United
The reigning champions have the toughest opening game among the 'Big Six', against Swansea City. Like Arsenal, it has been a frustrating transfer window for the champions. However, they still have the quality to defend the title. Only time will tell whether David Moyes is the right replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson. Their starting 11 should be: De Gea, Fabio, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Zaha, Welbeck, Kagawa, Van Persie.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham have made some good transfers in the transfer window with Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue. They are up against Crystal Palace and will be without their star man Gareth Bale. Their starting 11 should be: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose, Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho, Lennon, Chadli, Soldado.
Chelsea
With the return of Jose Mourinho to Chelsea, they are the favourites to win the 2013/14 Premier League title. They are up against Hull City in their opening game of the season. Their starting 11 should be: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Van Ginkel, Lampard, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku.
Manchester City
Manchester City are up against Newcastle United in their opening game of the season. Manuel Pellegrini has done his business early and City appear settled and stable as they attempt to reclaim the Premier League title. Their starting 11 should be: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy, Toure, Fernandinho, Navas, Silva, Jovetic, Dzeko.
