If you somehow didn't know already - the Premier League is well and truly back ladies and gentleman.

The three-month wait is finally over and the first Premier league goal of the 2013/14 season took just 37 minutes to be scored.

In the Premier League's season opener between Liverpool and Stoke at Anfield, Daniel Sturridge managed to get himself on the scoresheet in his side's slender 1-0 win over Mark Hughes' new side.

Liverpool new-boy Simon Mignolet was the home side's unlikely hero as he denied Stoke a late equaliser by saving an 89th-minute Jonathan Walters penalty.
