Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has told manager Arsene Wenger that he wants more competition for his place. The France international believes the Gunners need greater firepower in attack, as he Lukas Podolski and summer free transfer Yaya Sanogo are the only recognised striker in the squad. 

Chelsea star Frank Lampard said the return of Jose Mourinho to the Stamford Bridge club has got the squad buzzing. The Blues won their first competitive match under the new manager at home to Hull City on Sunday, with Lampard netting a 30-yard stunner in the 2-0 victory. 

Manchester United starlet Nick Powell is unlikely to get a great deal of playing time this season and could be heading elsewhere to look for it. Reports are suggesting that Wigan Athletic are ready to take the midfielder on loan for the season to help boost their Championship promotion hopes. 

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the Etihad Stadium club have what it takes to challenge in every competition this season and has vowed to pull off a clean sweep of trophies. City have spent over £90million on the likes of Fernandinho, Stevan Jovetic, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo as their new-look side get ready to attempt to win back the Premier League title. 

Tottenham Hotspur target Fabio Coentrao has told Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti he wants to leave the club before the transfer window closes. The Portugal international was reportedly set to be part of a deal taking Gareth Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu after accepting a move to White Hart Lane. 

Barcelona and Real Madrid make La Lga “boring” and it would be “impossible” for any other team to win the competition, according to Diego Simeone. The Atletico Madrid boss says the domination of TV revenue by the two biggest clubs makes sure no other clubs can challenge them.
