Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles says the pressure is on Arsenal ahead of the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie tomorrow.

The former Chelsea man says Arsenal's difficult summer coupled with their opening day defeat against Aston Villa means the Gunners must get a result in Turkey.

Tottenham captain Michael Dawson has backed new boy Roberto Soldado to fill the void left by Gareth Bale and fire them to the Champions League.

Bale is unlikely to feature before the end of the transfer window and he could leave to join Real Madrid before then, but Dawson says Soldado has plenty of goals in him to minimise the damage cause by the Welshman's absence.

David Moyes has hailed Robin van Persie after the Dutchman bagged a superb brace in Manchester United's 4-1 opening day win against Swansea.

Moyes also warned that Van Persie has it within in him to get even better as the season progresses.

Manuel Pellegrini has declared himself happy with his first game in charge of Manchester City.

City ran out 4-0 winners against Newcastle last night at the Et ihad Stadium, and Pellegrini says his side have laid down a good marker for the rest of the campaign.

On to another title contender and Chelsea also got their season off to a flying start with a 2-0 win against Hull on Sunday, but Frank Lampard concedes they took their foot off the gas in the second half.

The Blues went 2-0 up early on in Jose Mourinho's first game back in charge at Stamford Bridge, but Lampard believes they didn't play to their full potential.

And finally, David Villa says he has no qualms about celebrating if he scores against Barcelona when he turns out for Atletico Madrid against his former side tomorrow.
