Tiger Woods has been named as the world's highest paid athlete in 2013 in a top 100 list by Forbes.

Barcelona's star striker Lionel Messi has been placed in the 10th spot, while Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo ends up one rank ahead of his rival Messi.

However David Beckham, who announced retirement at the end of last season, continues to be the highest paid football player for this year.

Meanwhile, Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been placed above Formula 1 racer Fernando Alonso, Tennis star Novak Djokovic and 'world's fastest sprinter' Usain Bolt.

But cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has missed out from the top 50 list.

The 40-year-old batsmen has been placed in 51st position, equalling his earnings with Motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi.
