FIFA 14 will come free with pre-order purchases of the Xbox One, it was announced at Gamescom in Germany.

The highly anticipated EA Sports title will come bundled with the next gen console in Europe, giving gamers the chance to get their hands on the game at no extra cost.

It's another major coup for Microsoft in their battle with Sony, who have announced that their new Playstation 4 will be released in mid-November in North America. The European release follows two-weeks later.

Whilst their is no specific release date for the Xbox One at this stage, this announcement could go some way to making gamers consider whether they switch from one console to another.

Xbox is the dominant machine in the USA, but it's a different story in Europe, with Playstation holding the power.

Microsoft are attempting to shift the balance, and FIFA 14 could prove to be a key area in their battle if the announcements in Cologne are anything to go on. They also have exclusivity with 'football legends', a new feature to be introduced into the Ultimate Team mode of the game.

A FIFA 14 bundle is also expected to be released for the Xbox 360, as customers look to capitalise on the certain drop in price when the new consoles are released towards the end of the year - just in time for Christmas!
