FIFA Champions Trophy redemption delights Ramos

FIFA Champions Trophy winner Alfonso Ramos was delighted to turn the tables on great rival Bruce Grannec and claim the 'Golden Controller' in Cologne last night (Wednesday).

The Spaniard lost to the Frenchman in the inaugural final of this competition 12 months ago, with 'the machine' winning the day in Vancouver, Canada.

However, Ramos would not be denied for a second time, and was understandably thrilled to claim victory on the new FIFA 14 game.

"I'm absolutely delighted to win. It ranks as one of my best victories for sure, and it's nice to get a little bit of redemption for the loss last year," he told GiveMeSport in the immediate aftermath of the victory.

"Bruce is a great player and we always have very interesting matches, but I'm really pleased I came out on top this time. I felt confident from the start and played a really good game in the final, which is the most important thing."

Ramos, a former two-time FIFA Interactive World Cup winner, was coming into this Champions Trophy on the back of a disappointing showing at the FIWC in Madrid a couple of months back.

Grannec won that title on FIFA 13, but was unable to replicate his success in a very special event backstage at EA's business lounge at Gamescom in Germany.

There was little dwelling on success for the victor at this event however, with 'Vamos' immediately turning his attention to qualifying for next year's FIWC tournament, and making up for last year's disappointment on home soil.

"My aim now is to qualify for another FIWC tournament. It's so difficult because millions of people play the game and there are lots of good players around the world," he added.

"But I'm confident. I've won this event on the new FIFA 14 game, and there are lots of improvements that will make it a good game to play."
