Manchester United & Arsenal battle for Di Maria

Manchester United, Arsenal and PSG are locked in battle to sign Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 25-year-old Argentina international is believed to be happy to fight for his place at the Bernabeu, despite the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham, but Real Madrid are keen to sell in order to balance the books.

Marca report that Di Maria would cost around €40m to buy – but that figure is unlikely to put off any of the interested clubs.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Di Maria in recent days – along with his Real Madrid team-mate Karim Benzema – but the Gunners could lose out with Premier League champions Manchester United now on the scene.

Both United boss David Moyes and his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger are both determined to strengthen their squads with big-name players before the transfer window closes on September 2 – and Di Maria certainly falls into that category.

Meanwhile, Marca also report that the Red Devils are interested in signing Real Madrid's want-away left-back Fabio Coentrao, who remains a Tottenham target.
