Mourinho quashes Mata exit talk

Since his arrival in 2011 Juan Mata has been the glittering jewel in Chelsea’s crown.

His first season brought a Champions League and FA Cup double, in his second the club won a successive European Cup and became the first team to ever hold both of Europe's top trophies.

In his time in west London he has won three Player of the Year awards, and the admiration and hearts of the Chelsea fans. Due to the high esteem Chelsea hold Mata in, it has been quite disturbing for all involved to keep seeing the stories emerging about his imminent departure.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed (once again) that El Matador will be going nowhere. The recent rumours emerged after it was confirmed Chelsea were close to signing Willian, but in his post match press conference Mourinho had this to say when the subject was brought up:

"He is very important for me and very important for Chelsea," Mourinho is quoted by Sky Sports. "The stories that are coming out are nonsense stories. He goes nowhere."

I recently detailed the reasons the club cannot and will not sell Mata, and Mourinho has backed that up with his comments today.

Hopefully now the Special One has confirmed Mata will stay, this rumour will be put to bed once and for all.
