Jose Mourinho is known for being fairly eccentric, but launching his own cartoon series seems a bit far even for him.

However that hasn't stopped him. The Metro reports that Mourinho gave the thumbs up for the cartoon named 'Jose and the Special Ones' to be officially launched in Portugal this weekend.

The show, which features graphics similar to the classic children's series Pokemon, depicts the story of a young footballer who is scouted whilst playing in a local game.

Mourinho himself then attempts to turn the boy into a global superstar.

"I believe the series Mourinho and the Special Ones truly combine education and entertainment. I am proud to be part of this project," said the Portuguese manager himself.

The show is expected to be a hit in Portugal, and the company behind the production, Sports Stars Media, are already planing a card game and mobile phone app to follow.
