Manchester United are plotting a late move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda, according to the Metro.

David Moyes has so far been unable to attract any big-name signings to Old Trafford with just over three days to go until the transfer window slams shut.

However, Moyes is expected to make at least one signing before next Monday as the former Everton boss looks to appease his new supporters.

Moyes had made signing a new central midfielder his top priority but it now seems that he could be set to bring in a centre-back.

The 28-year-old has impressed in La Liga since sealing a move from Sao Paulo to the Spanish capital in 2011.

Miranda had previously been attracting interest from Premier League side Chelsea and Italian giants Inter Milan, but it is now being reported that Manchester United are favourites for his signature.

The Brazilian international, who can also play at right-back and in midfield, is expected to be available for around £6million.

Moyes already has four centre-backs at his disposal so he may look to play Miranda in midfield if he can secure a deal for the versatile Atletico Madrid star.
