Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has claimed he's stopped chasing Manchester United winger Nani because he's extended his Old Trafford contract.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Marotta claims United have offered Nani a new deal and the Portugal international has accepted.

He only had one year left on his existing United contract, and was linked with a move away from Old Trafford after falling out of favour under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Juventus were strongly linked with the United attacker, but he nows looks set to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Wilfried Zaha, Antonio Valencia, Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young currently compete for two places under David Moyes, while injury has interrupted Nani's preseason preparations.

The former-Sporting star barely featured under Ferguson towards the end of the United manager's reign, appearing against Real Madrid in the Champions League last-16 second-leg only to be sent off.

He was thought to be a target for Arsenal in the January transfer window, while a number of Serie A teams were believed to be considering a bid.
