Liverpool v Manchester United: Predicted teams

Football News

Manchester United travel to Liverpool on Sunday for one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the season for fans of both clubs.

Both teams have their injury doubts; Brendan Rodgers will not be able to call upon new signing Aly Cissokho after he was ruled out for 4-6 weeks after injuring his ankle in the Capital One Cup win over Notts County on Wednesday.

Kolo Toure was stretchered off in that match with a groin injury but it is not as bad as first thought, though he is a major doubt alongside Joe Allen.

Luis Suarez is still suspended so Daniel Sturridge will continue up front and Liverpool will hope he can continue his good form.

Meanwhile, David Moyes is expected to recall Phil Jones to his defence despite him getting a knock to the back in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea last Monday.

The Manchester United boss was singing Wayne Rooney's praises on Friday, so he is likely to retain his place in the starting XI after a good performance in that draw.

Here are the predicted starting line-ups:

Mignolet; Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Skrtel; Lucas, Gerrard, Aspas, Henderson, Coutinho; Sturridge.

Manchester United

De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia, Welbeck; Rooney, Van Persie.
