Former Arsenal great Thierry Henry who currently plays for Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls almost came to blows with the side's new coach Mike Petke in a heated argument during practice session last Thursday.
Though the cause of their heightened emotions is not clearly known, sources present in the ground report that the pair were forced to be pulled apart by teammates before the scene turned much uglier.
Following their heated exchange during an 11-on-11 drill, Henry straightaway left the field in anger storming into the players' facility.
Petke, who at 37 is just a year older than Henry, has never played outside the MLS and is new to the coaching role, having spent just one season as an assistant before taking on the role of head coach.
However, the coach downplayed the flare-up between him and his star captain saying he believes Henry is one of the most passionate lovers of the game he has met and that such incidents are normal between people who love the game very much.
The head coach said: "What happened with me and Henry? Listen, Thierry Henry is one of the most passionate and fiery people I've ever been associated with. And unless you guys have been under a rock for the last 13 years, I'm pretty passionate and lose my head a lot too," Petke told reporters at Red Bull Arena.
"Very normal stuff, there's really nothing to report. Nothing to report. It happens all over the world. As you saw, Thierry and I talking fine, we had a great conversation after practice, both on the same page, both ready to roll."
Henry had arrived at the club in July 2010 and is the biggest star in the side. He reportedly takes home a salary which amounts more than that of the entire squad's combined, apart from Tim Cahill.
