Dwight Gayle - Crystal Palace
Saturday was a special day for Crystal Palace, with the club securing their first three points of the 2013/14 Premier League season with a thrilling victory over faltering Sunderland. One of the home side's top performers at Selhurst Park was 22-year-old Dwight Gayle.
The striker, who signed for the Eagles from League One title challengers Peterborough United in July, was a real handful for the Black Cats' defence and put Ian Holloway's men back in the lead with a second-half penalty that was awarded by referee Lee Probert after John O'Shea felled Gayle.
It was exactly what the former Bishop's Stortford deserved after a performance full of energy and guile.
