Mesut Özil's club record £42.4million move to Arsenal was finalised last night, but the former Real Madrid man was in Germany on international duty and so was unable to do any promotional photos with his new club.

Gunners fans may have been thinking they would have to wait until their next Premier League match against Sunderland on September 14 to get a glimpse of the 24-year-old, but current fans' favourite Lukas Podolski has come to the rescue.

Podolski went to meet his Germany teammate, with Arsenal shirt in tow, and got his new club colleague to pose for a photo on Instagram and for his official Facebook page.

Özil said he was delighted to be joining the Emirates Stadium club when the deal was confirmed, but GMS are not sure who is happier out of the he and Podolski.

Other Arsenal players certainly seem to be glad that the deal has gone through, with both Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain taking to Twitter to express their delight.

"Signing of the summer! Easily! Fantastic player, plays the 'Arsenal way'. Welcome @MesutOzil1088 absolutely buzzing!", said Wilshere.

Oxlade-Chamberlain expressed similar sentiments: "What a signing that is for us! @MesutOzil1088 Welcome to Arsenal!"

While Oxlade-Chamberlain and Podolski are both suffering from long-term injury and will not be playing alongside Özil for a while, Wilshere will get the chance to line up next to him after the upcoming international break.
