Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski is convinced that Mesut Özil will have an immediate impact at the Emirates and complements their style of play perfectly.
Özil completed a £42.4m move to the Gunners on deadline day, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger smashing the club's transfer record by nearly three times the previous amount to get his man.
Podolski has played alongside Özil for Germany consistently over the last three years and believes his new club colleague is primed for success in the Premier League.
He told the German Football Federation official website: “It was reminiscent of Per’s move to Arsenal, that was all very quick and happened on the last day of the transfer window too.
"How do I rate it? It’s great for us, Arsenal has secured a fantastic footballer. I’m convinced he fits perfectly with our playing philosophy. We play many quick passes, so the football will suit him. I’m sure he’ll help us.
"I’ve known Mesut a long time, it’s not yesterday that we started earning caps [for Germany]. I love playing with him and I think he enjoys playing with me. We complement each other. As a man, I look forward to having Mesut around.
"Also it’s good that the German colony is growing at Arsenal. Overall, there’s now five of us at the Gunners and the coach speaks German too. I’m sure Mesut will feel good and we’ll have fun."
The Gunners now have six German players on their books at the Emirates, with Podolski, Ozil and Per Mertesacker joined by academy starlets Serge Gnabry, Gedion Zelalem and Thomas Eisfeld.
Podolski will have to wait some time before playing alongside Ozil in north London, with the forward currently sidelined by a hamstring tear, which is expected to keep him out for at least three months.
Ozil's first involvement for the Gunners should come against Sunderland next weekend, with a trip to Marseille kicking off Arsenal's Champions League campaign four days later.
