Arsenal new-boy Mesut Ozil is hoping to make an immediate impact in north London - by helping the club to win trophies.
It is a well-known fact that the Gunners haven't won a trophy since 2005 but Ozil is convinced that a return to the glory days for Arsenal are just around the corner.
"In the last few years, Arsenal haven't been so successful, but we want to become more successful and we want to win trophies," said Ozil, as reported on ESPN.
"I think the fans are looking forward to that too. We have a very strong and a very young team that can improve a lot under the manager.
"I think we will win trophies because we have the potential to do this."
Often ridiculed by opposing fans for their lack of trophies in recent years, as well as big-name and big-money signings, Arsene Wenger took everyone by surprise with the £42.4million capture of Ozil on transfer deadline day.
And the German international has revealed that he can't wait to get started and challenge himself at a new club in a completely different environment.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge, life in London and meeting my team-mates, the manager and the fans, as well as the Premier League. I'm really excited. It's a perfect decision for me and I'm looking forward to it all.
"I'm happy to be playing in the Premier League because everyone knows it's the strongest league in the world. There are simply a lot of top teams. I want to prove myself there. It's a new challenge for me, a new task. I'm looking forward to that. I want to improve further under the boss and in the team," said the 24-year-old.
Ozil is currently away on international duty with Germany for the World Cup qualifiers, with his Arsenal debut likely to come against Sunderland on September 14.
The quality and excitement of Ozil's signature could very well ignite and give Arsenal fans and players the boost they needed to seriously mount a challenge for another trophy again, which in truth is a long while coming.
