The Chelsea midfielder received a warm reception from the fans, and almost capped the perfect night with a match-winner, only for his last-minute header to drift past the post.
Lampard who has been an outstanding servant to his country since 1991 has not always been on the receiving end of cheers from his own fans and has frequently been a target of the Wembley Boo boys.
The England International was left stunned at the hail of boos that greeted him when he came on as a sub against Estonia in 2007 when England fans did not deem him good enough to play for his country.
