Lionel Messi still bitter about Champions League exit

Superstar Lionel Messi revealed he is still bitter about last season Champions league semi-final exit at the hands of FC Bayern Munich.

The Spanish giants suffered a heavy 7-0 aggregate defeat and the 26year-old striker admits Bayern were the better team in all respects.

Messi told 'There's a bitter taste after what happened in the semi-final against Bayern Munich, where there was a big gap between the two teams – we didn't go into it in our best shape. But that's the past and we have to look forward'.

The Barcelona forward is however relishing this seasons Champions League campaign and feels Barcelona have an exciting group. Group H will see the Spanish side compete against Ajax, Celtic and Milan.

"It's a difficult group, but we knew that would be the case. It's very difficult to win the Champions League – it's already hard from the start. I think the groups are very even, very balanced, so there will be some great games. We hope to play at our best level to be able to qualify".

Messi then went on to say, "It's an exciting group"

The Argentinian International spoke out about his unrelenting drive and Barcelona's motivation to achieve this season.

'We try to give our fans the best, as we've always done. We know we need each other's support and hopefully this will be a year where we can celebrate together'.

Barcelona will be strong contenders in all competitions this season and will be determined the danger man Messi are determined to achieve the very best they can.

The Barcelona star concluded 'We always want to achieve more'.

Barca are reigning La Liga champions and will be looking to regain this title in the 2013/14 campaign that is always bitterly fought against rivals Real Madrid.
