It is a race against time as to whether I am going to be fit for the Manchester United game on Saturday, but I don't think I am going to quite make it.
I will probably be training over the weekend and I should be back in first-team training with the rest of the boys on Monday.
I am hoping to be in contention to play the following week against Swansea City.
Scott Guyett, our fitness coach at Crystal Palace, has been working me hard over the last few weeks which will make me fully prepared to be firing on all cylinders when I come back.
Talking of fitness and injuries, we were dealt a blow this week with news that our new signing Jack Hunt has broken his ankle.
I know Hunt from his Huddersfield days and he was always a tough full-back to play against. Injuries to the squad are never pleasant but we still have Joel Ward at right-back and I think the gaffer has done a good job in the transfer market by getting two players in each position.
The manager has also strengthened in the wide areas - where I play - by bringing in Jimmy Kebe, Jason Puncheon and Jerome Thomas.
They all play in my position but that has made me even more hungry for a spot in the starting line-up than I was before. The competition for places will definitely raise my game.
We have strength in depth now, which you can see by the calibre of players who were left out of the manager's squad.
It's a hard pill to swallow for any footballer who gets left out of the 25-man squad - particularly when you have been involved in the first three games of the season.
Going back to the game on Saturday, we know it will be a very good test after our superb display against Sunderland before the international break.
We will obviously be up against one of my good friends and former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
He hasn't featured in the last few games for Manchester United so it's hard to know whether he is going to play or not - but I'm sure our boys will be fully prepared for the game either way.
