In a World Cup qualifier against more superior opposition, scoring one goal is usually a fantastic moment for a player, especially if it changes the result in any way. Step forward Johann Gudmundsson of AZ Alkmaar and Iceland, who struck a stunning hat-trick in Iceland's 4-4 draw with Switzerland.

The winger struck three beauties with his left-foot, as Iceland secured a point in an absolutely breathtaking match between the top two sides in Group E.

A former Chelsea and Fulham trainee, Gudmundsson joined in 2009 from Icelandic side Breidablik but will have never scored three goals as good as these.

The first two were as a result of wonderful control before two arrow-like finishes into the top corner of the net, but the striker that sealed the hat-trick was an absolute stunner.

Picking the ball up on the corner of the box almost 20 yards out, Gudmundsson set himself before whipping a devilish curler into the far corner of the net, past a stranded 'keeper, capping the man of the match performance off in the most scintillating way.

Have a look at this glorious hat-trick in the video above.
