Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado has heaped praise on Christian Eriksen after the Dane's dazzling debut for the north London club in their 2-0 win over Norwich yesterday.

Eriksen took to life in the Premier League like a duck to water as he pulled the strings in Spurs' convincing win at White Hart Lane.

The former Ajax ace set up one and played a key role in the other as Spurs moved into the top three, and £26 million striker Soldado was impressed with what he saw.

"He is a brilliant player. It's incredible that he has got up to this level already in his first game in English football," he said.

"It's great for him, for the team. He is a player who is capable of improving all of us.

"He is a player that makes everything look easy and that's good for us. Today he made the difference, he's a player that can support us in everything we do. He can offer us a lot of passes to everyone who plays in attack for Spurs."

Eriksen was one of just seven summer arrivals as Spurs splashed well over £100 million to offset the departure of Gareth Bale.

Soldado, who was part of that spending spree, almost got on the scoresheet with a cheeky backheel which rebounded off the post but said he was happy to get the win even if he didn't score.

"We know that it's important to get three points at home, that will be clear at the end of the season," the former Valencia striker said.

"I was close to scoring, but winning games always comes first for me."
