Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj has impressed in the early stages of the new season - but now could be a target for fierce rivals Manchester City according to the Daily Mirror.

The talented youngster shone for the Red Devils during pre-season and made an eye-catching cameo in the 2-0 win against Crystal Palace yesterday.

Hopes are high at Manchester United that Januzaj will become a regular starter in the years to come, but before that they may have to fight off serious interest from rivals Manchester City.

The Mirror report that the Citizens are looking to exploit the fact that Januzaj is in the last year of his contract at Old Trafford and will look to make him a tempting offer to switch allegiances.

Manchester United do not want to lose the 18-year-old wonderkid but are in a tricky situation as they look to tie him down with a new deal. The news of Manchester City's interest could well be used by his representatives to negotiate better terms.

The Mirror claim Manchester United are wary of losing another youth star after the departure of both Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison last summer.

While the Red Devils decide what step to take next, Manchester City are lurking in the hope of taking one of their rivals' most prized assets.
