Arsenal fans had every right to be worried after Arsene Wenger failed in his attempts to bring a big-name striker into the club over the summer.
Wayne Rooney, Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez were all linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium before the start of the new season; however, none of them ever really came close to joining the north London club.
A lot of pressure has been and still is on Oliver Giroud, who before now struggled to find the form that saw him score 21 times in 36 games for former club Montepellier, since moving to the Premier League.
However, now Giroud looks set to do just that.
The 26-year-old has started off the season well, managing four goals in four games so far and his run of form looks to end no time soon.
The Frenchman is sure to benefit from £42m Mesut Ozil, who made an immediate impact in his first game for Arsenal in the club's 3-1 away win over Sunderland on Saturday.
Ozil set-up Giroud for Arsenal’s first goal before Aaron Ramsey finished off the Black Cats with a brace.
With rivals Tottenham adding to their side significantly during the summer transfer window, Arsenal need Giroud to emulate what former star Robin van Persie did for them in his time at the club.
Even with Giroud being far from his best last year there was no doubting his talent.
Now he looks like he has finally settled in England and has every chance of being towards the top of the scoring charts come the end of the season.
Arsenal host Stoke City in their next Premier League game on Sunday 22 September.
