LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant will return to his best once he overcomes injury as he 'is not a human being', according to NBA legend James Worthy.

Bryant sustained a torn Achilles tendon last season and has yet to return to full training, although he continues to progress to the schedule set out for him by the Lakers doctors.

The 35-year-old's spell on the sidelines was set at six to nine months when he suffered the tear in April against Golden State, and he is expected to miss all of the Lakers pre-season as he continues his rehabilitation.

Naturally, there are fears that, when taking into consideration his advanced years, Bryant will be unable to able to hit previous heights after he returns, but Worthy believes the five-time NBA Championships winner will recover sufficiently.

“Kobe is not a human being,” Worthy said. “He’s an alien. I think he will come back and play well.”

The new NBA season will be Bryant's 18th with the Lakers and his return will come as a massive boost after the team lost in the first round of the playoffs during the last campaign.
