Chelsea are closely following the development of another midfielder, as they track Wolfsburg's German playmaker Julian Brandt.

According to the Metro, the Blues see Brandt as a player of great potential and could move for him before rival clubs start sniffing around.

The 17-year-old has yet to break into the Wolfsburg senior side but has impressed at numerous youth levels on the international stage and has caught the attention of the Stamford Bridge scouts with some intriguing performances for his U19 team at domestic level.

Brandt has scored three goals in five games whilst playing for the Wolfsburg U19's, and has also contributed five assists from the wing. His team have remained unbeaten thus far this campaign and a number of scouts have been attending their matches in the hope of unearthing a budding talent.

Brandt is being touted as the latest in a growing list of promising German starlets who are tipped to shine in the future.

The likes of Mario Gotze, Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Julian Draxler have already gone some way to establishing themselves as key figures for the international side, and the 17-year-old may just follow in their footsteps.
