Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson has stated his belief that teammate Aaron Ramsey is the best midfielder in the world at this moment in time.

22-year-old Ramsey, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Welsh outfit Cardiff City in June 2008, has enjoyed a fine spell of form during the early throws of the 2013/14 campaign, scoring twice in the Premier League and also notching in the Champions League.

Such consistent and stellar performances have come as a swift riposte to the Welshman's seemingly extensive list of doubters, many of whom had seriously questioned his place in the team ahead of the new season.

Those performances have also led to much praise from other members of the Gunners' squad. Jenkinson, the full-back who joined the club from Charlton Athletic in 2011, believes there is no better midfielder anywhere in the world.

The England international told talkSPORT: “Talking about Aaron Ramsey I’ve always thought he was a great player but he’s been absolutely exceptional this year.

“He is probably the most in-from midfielder in the world. I don’t think there is anyone better than him at the moment. It’s fantastic for him and for the team as well.”

Arsenal, who recorded an impressive 2-1 win over Marseille at the Stade Veledrome on Wednesday evening, return to domestic action this Sunday with a home clash against Mark Hughes' Stoke City.
